Why Window tints are better than Solar Screens

Why Window tints are better than Solar Screens

On any given sunny day, the most inconvenient driving distraction for any motorist while being on the road is the glaring sun and heat. Drivers usually look for ways to avoid any uncomfortable feeling while commuting, and so they go hunting for solutions, and while being on the market for ways to block out the heat from their cars, motorists usually opt for looking into the easy way out and take a peek into the possibilities and practicalities of solar screens, although in reality, they are far from practical. If you are in the market for a means of protecting yourself and your car from the heat, here is why you should go for window tints, not solar screens.

What are Solar Screens?

For starters, Solar screens are dark shades that are installed on the interior windows of the vehicles acting almost like blinds or mini curtains. They are usually made of multiple layers of fabric, most often plastic fabric like polyester or synthetic fabric that blocks the heat or UV and infrared radiation and are surrounded by a plastic frame. Unlike window films, they are installed and fitted over the windows using their frame via clips and other tools, and they lay over the car windows leaving a small distance between them and the glass estimated to be between half an inch and an inch.

Why window tints are the better option for car owners

From the previous points we made about solar screens, and more that we are about to state, it is highly notable that solar screens do not stand a chance against the benefits of window tints.

First of all, solar screens are at best a semi temporary option. They are installed over the vehicle’s windows unlike window tints which adhere to the glass itself, and in some cases solar screens cause complete obstruction of vision which significantly limits the enjoyment of driving for passengers and severely restricts the drivers’ field of view. Not to mention that in case of an accident, solar screens could easily get dislodged and turn into dangerous projectiles harming drivers and passengers. Another fact regarding heat protection and providing shade, solar screens fade significantly faster than even the most mediocre window tints.

On the other hand, and when compared to window tints, window tints come out as the victors. Window tints offer significantly more protection from glare, heat, UV and infrared radiation. They also outlast solar screens when it comes to opacity and practicality. Basically, you only have to install tints once while you would need to change your solar screens once they fade. You would also need to constantly maintain and keep the solar screens clean as they do collect dust and are a bit frustrating to clean, if you leave them for a while unchecked, they might even smell stale.

For all these reasons and more, it is absolutely better to invest in window tints and contact or consult a tinting expert of your preferred car shop for information on installation and the best fit for your needs as a motorist.
